Gallon Measure Adaptive Reuse

This adaptive reuse and expansion transforms a historic 1920s automotive service station into a mixed-use structure that preserves the building’s distinctive cylindrical ‘oil can’ form while introducing modern functionality. The project expands the existing garage footprint and adds a new residential level above, unified by a gable roof and a clean, contemporary exterior composition. The design carefully integrates the original curved volume into the new structure, maintaining the building’s recognizable character while upgrading it to meet current code, energy, and structural standards. The result is a thoughtful reinvention that balances preservation, performance, and modern mixed-use living.
